Bohumil Frantal
Bohumil works as a leading researcher at the Institute of Geonics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Department of Environmental Geography (since 2002) and as a senior researcher and lecturer at Palacky University in Olomouc (since 2009). In his research he focuses on social-spatial contexts of the ongoing energy transition (particularly renewable energy development and related land use conflicts), environmental risk perceptions, urban renewal and brownfields regeneration, local identity processes, quality of life and spatial models of behaviour. His principal publications address the issues of time-space diffusion of renewable energy technologies, and the social acceptance of different renewable energy projects, nuclear power plants and coal mining expansion.

Dan Van der Horst
Dan works at the University of Edinburgh, School of Geosciences, UK (Reader in Environment and Society) and he has been working as a visiting profesor at the Institute of Geonics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Department of Environmental Geography (since 2011). His interest lies in sustainable use of natural resources, and especially in 'how to do' multi-functionality, adaptive management and conflict mitigation in crowded spaces. With regards to energy, he has published critical evaluations of sustainable energy policies and reviewed the role of location in public opposition to renewable energy projects. Ongoing work focuses on public perceptions of and responses to the smart metering of energy services and on the production of (geographical, cultural, institutional) spaces for diffusion of socio-technical energy innovations.

Josef Kunc
Josef is an Associate Professor (Docent) at the Department of Regional Economics and Administration, Faculty of Economics and Administration, Masaryk University and visiting researcher at the Department of Environmental Geography, Institute of Geonics, in Brno. In his research he focuses on the problems of industrial innovations from the social-cultural, economic and spatial perspective, daily urban systems and daily mobility, and various issues concerning the relations among industries, energy resources and landscapes.

Stanislav Martinat
Standa works as a senior researcher at the Institute of Geonics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Department of Environmental Geography (since 2002) and currently also as a researcher at the School of Geography and Planning of Cardiff University (since 2018). The focal point of his research is agricultural and rural geography with emphasis on new spatial phenomena affecting contemporary rural space. His main research interests are twofold. The first lies in the issues around brownfields regeneration, its public perception and alternative brownfields re-use options and regional brownfield prioritization. My second research direction is in problems connected to diffusion and uptake of renewable energy technology, socio-spatial consequences of occurrence of anaerobic digestion plants in rural space and agricultural change.
